How to improve pitch control?

Hi guys,

I am a student pilot currently struggling with two areas, in particular, pitch control and rudder use. I was wondering if they are some exercises that you would recommend to practice on a simulator or in flight to improve those areas? I am especially struggling to find a pitch for level flight using just visual reference and the same for a climb.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Try drawing a "pitch ladder" like the one on your attitude indicator on the windshield using a NON-permanent felt-tip marker like a Sharpie.  (Make darn sure it's not permanent -- windshields are expensive.)  What you're looking for would look something like this:

That's a lot like what you see in the Head-Up Display (HUD) of an airplane a lot more expensive than what you're flying.  Try pitching your nose to level flight with normal cruise power and see where the horizon cuts through the ladder, and remember what that picture looks like.  Then establish a climb at normal climb speed with climb power, and again, note the step on the ladder where the horizon is.  Practice some, and you'll get to know what the right picture is without the ladder.
