I noticed on a flight today that My G5 airspeed indication was giving wildly inaccurate airspeed indications when compared to to the certified analog gage. The tape was not Red X'ed but one time it read ridiculously high Like over 220 KTS when the analog gauge rear 135 KTS and the next time I checked It was reading 75KTS when the analog gage was reading 130KTS. Has anyone seen this before or have any Idea of what is going on? Did something spring a leak in the Pitot Static system? If so why would the analog gauges still function as normal. This G5 is installed as an HSI and we Use the PFD function as a Backup only. So was just checking it and saw this indication(s). The analog gauges were what I expect in the phases of flight flown. I was using pitot heat during the flight.

When I had my G5 HSI installed, they accidentally broke the plastic fitting that connects to the pitot-static tubing. I had 0 airspeed indication and had to come back for repair. It's possible that you might have a cracked fitting that is creating an air leak.

A leak in the pitot system would reduce the pitot pressure and cause both airspeed instruments to read equally low. One instrument reading abnormally high suggest a problem in that instrument. Take it to an instrument shop that handles Garmin.
