What is difference between full medical and BasicMed?
AOPA Staff Answer
There are very significant differences between an FAA medical and BasicMed. BasicMed is a separate regulation, Part 68. There is no approval or denial process through the FAA because it is a self-certification regulation. The physical examination is completed with any state licensed physician, not an AME, and good for 48 months. With BasicMed, your personal health information stays between you and the physician who completed the physical.
