Logging XC with CFI demonstrating T/O, Landing

So my CFI and I went on this XC flight in an AMEL that I (PPL/ASEL) was not rated for. The XC was 1.5 hour one way. At the end of the flight, I logged 3 hours TT and 3 hours dual received. However, because the CFI demonstrated the take off and landing on the outbound leg, I only logged 1 take off and landing for the inbound leg.

My question is, without logging the take off and landing for the outbound leg, could I have logged the whole flight (3 hours) as XC, or just one leg (1.5) of it?

Thanks!

Based on the three FAA legal interpretations below, only the leg during which you were the sole manipulator and made the takeoff and landing, I think.
