AOPA Flight Planner Replacement Suggestions

I'd look at partnering with SkyVector.com or even directly with Leidos and 1800wxbrief.com.

I really like this suggestion.  Leidos would be the preferred partner.  I never have liked fltplan.com so I hope you come up with a way to continue the product.
How about looking into a ForeFlight discount partnership? You flight plan at base ops on a desktop with the crew/student and it is already synced to your iPad for flight. Many pilots are already paying for EFB's like Foreflight out of pocket, so any discount would be welcome, and more and more pilots will be forced onto these apps in the future.

The interacitve maps of SkyVector. The official approved brief of 1800wxbrief.com and the improved kneeboard papers of the current AOPA Planner would be a nice solution. AOPA should not reinvent the wheel. They should use partners, which are already out there.

Leidos or Foreflight, they're really the best choices in my view.

With regard to FltPlan Go, that team has never figured out how to create a nice interface,
Garmin is too proprietary with everything they do, and  you'll have to have a Garmin panel
mount just to login in to aopa.org if they take over ...

This sounds like a good idea. The new solution should support Desktop (Browser) and optionally Apple AND Android. I see people talking about "discounts", which does not sound like a good replacement for something that was included in the membership fees.

No one is more proprietary than Apple and Foreflight. Garmin isn't the answer here either, I agree. I can't believe how many people that love the freedom of flight lock themselves into a corner closet with one specific company. Is Garmin the best for GA? I don't think anyone could really make a strong argument otherwise. Is Apple? I don't think we can be as sure. Foreflight? Maybe, but lots of people would rather have another device to run it on or another application all together. What we are seeing here is an example of companies getting a monopoly in a way and then pushing to make more money because of that following. We need the freedom to choose. Not to have the choice made for us.
