Flight Planner Suggestion

  1. Hello,  I am so sorry that this awesome Association is dealing with Sunsetting Policies.  My former company did that in June of 1999.My recommendation is to Partner with Foreflight, a Boeing company to include a Portal to their planner, much like what you do for rental cars.
  2. Partner with Seattle Avionics once again.  Since they have connectivity to several panels, pilots could use the browser on AOPA to create their data file for the panel avionics.  Not sure if they interface with Garmin though.

Hi Rufus. Thank you for your understanding and recommendations. We are working with several companies in the industry to provide a replacement option(s) for those who wish to continue to utilize a desktop Flight Planning application. While we didn’t have the option to keep the current Flight Planner going, we do understand the value of having a desktop tool. We are also exploring opportunities for those who wish to use an EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) to have this option from our industry partners at the best price possible. We will communicate all details as soon as they become available. Thank you for being a valued member and AOPA pilot.

Seattle Avionics or SkyVector?

Either could probably get you very close on the planning side.

I am also disappointed to lose Flight Planner.  It is my primary flight planning tool.  It's loss and the fiasco that was the AOPA forums are not confidence building.

I'd recommend speaking with the folks at Adventure Pilot.  The iFly GPS just rolled out predictive flight planning.  It's an excellent tool at a very reasonable cost.  For my money (I own three units), it out performs far more expensive solutions.

I have used both Seattle Avionics and Foreflight.  Foreflight (now Boeing - Jeppesen) may become (already is...) expensive for the features we need and Seattle Avionics seems to be a bit more GA friendly and seems to interface with more GA products but lacks Canadian coverage.  My vote would be to approach Seattle Avionics and ask how they are doing with the Canada coverage.

Hello:
I will miss this tool. I do use fore flight and I also agree with Mr Thompson
