Hello aviators! I am beyond thrilled to finally begin my journey, and join this amazing community of aviation enthusiast and pilots. My father flew in UH-1's in Vietnam and flying has always been a passion in our family. I remember in my younger years, I would always go to a local arcade after school and play on their flight sim game for hours. Sadly, like many others I thought aviation was to be a dream and something I would only admire from the ground. Not long ago, I befriended a wonderful woman in Canada who's father is a retired Air Canada pilot and two sisters who are both pilots. Being able to accompany her through her journey has been a magical experience. From flying in her fathers Cardinal, to driving her across Canada from Vancouver BC to Thunder Bay Ontario, starting as dispatch and finally working her way to FO. She is only a few months from her captains upgrade, and I could not be more proud.

I always enjoy local air shows, aviation documentaries, seeing YouTube aviators such as Steveo, Flight Chops, Angle of Attack, and so many others. I am now buckling down and studying, looking at ground schools [Sportys / MzeroA], reading through handbooks, and soaking up as much information as I can to become proficient. I am also building a nice trainer sim setup for time spent on the ground. I own the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and pre-ordered their throttle quadrant. Thanks to Stay Level Avionix and Real Sim Gear, this will be a stellar setup with Microsoft Flight Sim 2020.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to connecting! If anyone is ever in the area, I would love to meet up!

Cheers

Hey Arnold, Welcome to the fraternity of flyers.  I stopped  at Lake Havasu in June of 2017 while on an adventure trip from Jacksonville FL to San Diego.  We had 4 airplanes with 8 pilots in the group.  Three of us were US citizens,   5 pilots traveled to the US from Italy.  What a great trip.  Dinners were great!  My advice is to start lessons and the Private Pilot License will soon follow.  Regards, John

I don't see much in the way of flight instructors or rental planes at KHII. It might be difficult to train there unless you have that handled.

Hi John! Its a great area during the cooler months. Good for flying and all sorts of outdoor activities. We are a small town, but we have a few good CFI's. Renting planes is hard, I am looking to purchase a Piper in 2020 after completion of the PPL. This will be used to obtain additional ratings.

If you ever find yourself flying in again, please give me a shout!

Brian is really our only main guy, he has many ratings and accreditations so he is a good CFI. Currently looking for a small trainer aircraft such as a piper 140 or conversion. Will purchase my own to build hours as well as volunteering for Pilots N Paws - https://www.pilotsnpaws.org/

If its in your heart, you make it happen!
