Wilmington POTUS TFR notification
A 3.5 hr notice before a weekend POTUS TFR at his residence.  Over the last several administrations, these types of weekend POTUS TFR notifications were usually published 48-72 hours in advance.

Has nothing to do with that. the last guy was in NJ or West Palm every friggin’ weekend for 4 years. And shockingly, the people who were fine with that are outraged at the new guy going home for the weekend. So incredibly predictable.

Probably depends on where you live -- NIMBY, and all that.

Hello Eugene, even though the FAA gave advanced notice it wasn't official because the NOTAM wasn't published.  Flight planners such as Garmin and ours don't show the TFR until the actual TFR NOTAM is published, which in the case of this past weekend was pretty short notice.  The best way to check if the NOTAM has been published is by going to www.tfr.faa.gov and at the top of the page select VIP in the "Type" drop down menu if you are looking for Presidential TFRs specifically.  Also we send out Presidential TFR Alert emails and Push notifications when they get published and if you are not getting those let us know so we can turn them on for you.
Michael, This has to do with the TFR official publication/notification time, NOT politics.  When a President decides to spend time at his residence for the weekend, the TFR would regularly be published at least 48 hours in advance (we've pushed for 72 hrs). Granted, they would sometimes be cancelled short notice (several hours), but this is the way it has been over the last four administrations.  NEVER in the last 15 years have I seen a POTUS TFR for a weekend at their home issued 3.5 hours before it's scheduled activation or a cancellation of such 45 minutes prior to it's activation.

I received an email notice the evening of March 3 that it was to happen March 5-7.  It didn't show up as a future TFR on my Garmin Pilot until March 5, then cancellation notice came from FAA on March 6.  My home airport, Pottstown Muni, is in one of the cutouts, but still, it's annoying.

A 3.5 hr notice before a weekend POTUS TFR at his residence is unacceptable.

So what is AOPA Governmental Affairs going to do about it?
