Air Plains Services, a world leader in general aviation engine and avionics upgrades, is again co-sponsoring the annual Wellington Airport Open House, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and visitors can drive or fly in.
The second annual open house is hosted this year by The Airport Advisory Board, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the City of Wellington. Joining Air Plains as a sponsor for the event are Cowley College in Arkansas City, Suppesville Fuel LLC in Milton, Triumph Accessory Services in Wellington, and Lochner, a Chicago-based contractor that managed the recent expansion of the Wellington Airport.
This year’s event features aircraft on display from the Commemorative Air Force, Nieves and Travelin’ Smoke food trucks, and a children’s bounce house. A special event for 2019 is a book sale and signing by Carol Ysidro, author of the popular children’s book Robby Learns to Fly.
Wellington’s new EAA chapter, The Chisholm Trail Chapter #1631, will offer free introductory aircraft flights for young people age 8 to 17 through EAA’s famed Young Eagle program.
Wellington Airport (KEGT) is just north of Wellington at 441 N West Road. Visitors flying in for the event will enjoy a $5 food truck voucher and discounted fuel.
