I will be flying a Piper Cub cross country and will be passing several Class C airspaces. I will only have a handheld radio, and flying 2500 above the ground. I am worried about transiting the 20 mile ring and not being able contact the CTC 20 miles out. Can I enter the 20 mile ring and fly under 10 mile ring and land at an airport uunder the 10 mile ring without contacting the designated approach controller?

I am Planning 2300 mile trip from KOKV to L00, 150 miles per leg, no more than 5 hours flying time a day. I am not the camping type. How do you select airports to land at that have a way to get to and from a hotel, meals, replenish food supplies?

It doesn't look like the US is going to be opening up anytime soon. So what are some ideas for finding an airport where I can get food and drink supplies for the next day's flight, breakfast and dinner meals, transportation to and from the ...

I am planning a trip from the east coast to the west coast this summer in a PA-11. For various reasons, Gross weight limitations mean I will be flying solo. The PA-11 does not have an electrical system. I will have two handheld air radios and a garmin gpsmap 496 with siriusXM weather service on the garmin. I will have an iPad and iPhone both running foreflight basic. Will the iPad or iPhone be able to get updated weather inflight if I am flying about 3000 ft agl?

I will be using ...
I am president of a 35 member flying club with 3 pipers. All PA-28. With the CFI market getting smaller and smaller we are starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for CFIs in Dubuque, IA. An unofficial requirement is that all CFIs carry CFI insurance since they are not covered under our AVEMCO club policy regardless if they are a member of the club or not. We are getting a lot of push back from the CFI community because they are mostly recent college graduates and it will take a ...

I am planning a transcontinental trip in a PA-11, and after trying both Foreflight and SkyQ, I am sitting in my office planning my trip using paper maps. Neither program had as good of planning tools to get me what I needed. And as far as AOPA talking about the future product being more EFB oriented, just remember, some of us still fly airplanes without electrical systems. I will be using a Garmin 495 for my trip as a backup to my maps. I will have one handheld radio with VOR ...
Hi,
flight planner is one of the most frequency used benefits for me of being a member of AOPA. pls consider this when soliciting membership in the future.  If AOPA is for pilots then you should directly support them.  Consider strategic partnerships.
